Preparing for Your New Puppy
in Wimbledon

Adventure Paws puppy preparation services, for total peace of mind that you’re completely equipped for your puppy’s arrival. With my guidance, you will be set up for success from the moment you bring your puppy home.

Welcoming a Puppy into Your Life

It’s such an exciting time!

You’re buzzing with the anticipation of collecting your long-awaited puppy. Then you’re overwhelmed with all the questions and concerns that most new puppy owners have.

Dr Google only throws up conflicting advice, while a well-meaning friend suggests one thing, and another suggests completely the opposite. With practical, experienced and evidence-based advice honed by my years of experience in puppy training in Wimbledon, I can help you feel completely prepared and ready to navigate the critical early days with your puppy at home.

The Puppy Preparation Consultation is suitable from the time you’ve chosen your puppy to the day you bring them home (after that, you should take a look at my Super Puppy Programme for one-to-one puppy training in London).

Puppy Prep Consultation
includes:

  • A Pre-Puppy Consultation

A 1:1 session in the comfort of your own home, before you collect your puppy. We’ll discuss any questions you may have regarding preparing for their arrival. No question or concern is a silly one. This is a big deal and I’m here to support and guide you.

  • Bespoke Advice

I provide an assessment of your home environment to offer personalised guidance on the best way to set up your living space to manage your puppy well from the moment they arrive. Nobody needs their puppy hanging off their favourite jumper whilst cooking dinner!

  • Early Days Guidance

Understand how to travel home with your puppy, what to do when you get home and how to handle their first few critical days and nights with you. You’ll have a clear plan of how to help your puppy settle within your family and sleep well as quickly as possible.

  • Personalised Plan

You’ll receive a personalised Puppy Preparation Plan with clear advice about what to ask your breeder ahead of collection, choosing a good local vet, considering insurance, rethinking nutrition and a shopping list of what to buy and what not to buy. Without being unkind, there’s a lot of poor advice out there and it’s important you quickly learn the difference between sales talk and facts, which I can offer you as an experienced puppy trainer in London.

  • Direct Support

Get in touch with me via Voxer in the first 10 days after your puppy’s arrival.

  • Peace of mind

You’re being guided by an accredited, ethical and accountable dog trainer.

Travel to your home is included for Wimbledon, Southfields, Earlsfield, Summers Town, Colliers Wood, Merton, Mitcham and Kingston Vale. Locations such as Putney and Barnes in the ULEZ zone will incur the ULEZ fee. Parking charges may apply if you live in a residents only area.

Invaluable, spot-on advice

“The pre-puppy consultation was invaluable. We are complete novices but Lottie explained things very clearly and gave us some great guidance as to what to expect and how to settle our new puppy in. All the advice was spot on and Lottie’s calm and optimistic approach gave us confidence and reassurance.”

FAQs

  • We can have a consultation from as early as when you’ve found your breeder and up until just before you collect your puppy.

There’s a lot to prepare and the knowledge you have ahead of collection will allow you to be as organised as possible to be set up for success from the moment you pick your puppy up.

  • No, I can absolutely help you with preparing to welcome a dog into your home. I would tailor our session and advice to be relevant to the different needs a dog can have.

  • The trouble with the internet is that there’s no way of knowing what’s good advice and what’s bad. The sad fact is that our entire industry is highly unregulated which means without any kind of qualifications, someone can call themselves a dog trainer and of course, put their advice out to the ether.

As a certified and experienced trainer I’ve seen first-hand the damaging effects of bad advice and poor training techniques so encourage you to seek the guidance of an accredited and certified trainer who uses ethical and evidence based advice.

  • I use only kind, reward-based training methods and will offer advice and guidance based upon sound evidence and alongside ensuring that your new puppy’s welfare and wellbeing is at the heart of your preparation.
