One to One Dog Training - Golden Retriever

Private Dog Training in Wimbledon and South London

Helping you and your dog navigate and overcome training challenges and with a personalised programme designed around you and your dog.

Life with a dog is a journey and, like any good road trip, it doesn’t always go to plan.

For dogs, this may mean that you’re now facing a new training challenge or perhaps just want to sort one out that you never quite got on top of.

Perhaps they’ve had a frightening experience that you’re struggling to help them overcome. Or maybe you’ve got a teenage tornado on your hands - there’s no doubt about how challenging adolescence in dogs can be! Perhaps you simply want them to come back when called.

For you, circumstances can change, meaning that you need to help your dog adapt, reconnect with you or just allow you to have some fun together.

Perhaps you’ve had a major change in your routine with a new job, a house move or a new partner. All of these changes can be as unsettling for our dogs as they can be for us. Helping ease your dog through these transitions can make the whole situation a lot less overwhelming.

The good news is, you can absolutely teach an old dog new tricks!

With some expert guidance and practical training techniques, I can help you get back on track so the very best days in your relationship lay ahead of you.

1 to 1 Dog Training includes:

  • Five, hour-long face-to-face coaching sessions

We will create a plan tailored to the training, life skills and manners that your dog needs and the problems you’d like to overcome, alongside some recommended basics that will help you bring up a well-mannered dog who is a pleasure to live with. Sessions take place over an 8 week period.

  • Practical, hands-on training for you and your dog

I will coach you in how to teach your dog the skills they need.  Training sessions will take place both within your home and out and about in the local area and Wimbledon Common, to ensure that the training we do will set you up in the real world for real life with your dog.

  • Step by step guides

I’ll provide guides for each of the key skills I teach you, so that you and your dog can practise when we’re not together and be ready to progress in your training plan each week.

  • An empathetic, honest and realistic approach.

Our dogs are as individual in character as we are and having trained hundreds of dogs and owners, I’m in a great position to make sure that the way we train suits you, your dog and your lifestyle.

  • Peace of mind

You can be sure that you’re being coached by an accredited and accountable trainer using an ethical, reward-based approach, free from aversive techniques.

  • Extra support between sessions via Voxer.

  • A training pack with useful tools and treats.

  • 5 Golden Rules for Successful Dog Training

I’ll be teaching you how to ‘speak dog’ and guiding you on how to teach your dog English as a second language.

“Lottie was instrumental in getting Amelia where she is today. All the education, advice and just having someone there who understands the journey has been invaluable. I may have given up without you.”

FAQs

  • Well yes (as long as it’s not dangerous or could do harm to your dog or someone else). I choose not to train certain dog sports like Mondeo or train dogs for protection work so if you’re after this I’m not your trainer. Other than that, years of experience and my absolute passion for all that is dog has personally allowed me to become skilled in teaching all kinds of behaviour, so get touch and we can chat about your needs.

  • Unfortunately no. The reality is that there are often so many influences that determine whether a training programme will be successful such as learning history, individual differences and of course your behaviour. However, you’re guaranteed the latest, most ethical and evidence based techniques alongside my support and guidance as we work together to get the improvements you’d like.

  • Of course. Sometimes it can be hard for an owner to know if their dog needs training or has a more deep seated behavioural problem. We will discuss in depth what’s going on with your dog prior to beginning a training plan and constantly be looking for improvements in your dog whilst working together. If I feel at any point that an assessment by a Clinical Animal Behaviourist or a Veterinary Behaviourist is required, I can assist you with that referral and then work alongside you as you implement their recommendations.

  • Absolutely. I love working with owners and their dogs for the long term and I’m lucky enough to work with some clients who train just for fun continually. We can work on an ad-hoc basis, top up your skills through your dog’s life and I can continue to support you on your training journey as long as you want.

  • I use only kind, reward-based training methods ensuring that they are practical, effective and based upon sound evidence. I will never use harsh handling, corrections, punishment or intimidation and the welfare of your puppy will always be paramount within our training sessions.
